EVENT: An Afternoon of Light Music

Hilary Ashton, daughter of composer Ernest Tomlinson presents an illustrated talk about her father's life and music. 2024 marks the centenary of the birth of Ernest Tomlinson, one of the most prominent figures in British Light Music. In addition to his undoubted prowess as a composer, arranger and conductor, Ernest was for many years a driving force in the Light Music Society and responsible for rescuing a huge amount of sheet music that would otherwise now be lost. The talk will feature musical excerpts from his well known and less well known works. Admission: £15 including refreshments A selection of CDs and books will be available for sale.
