Light & Lyrical

A Light Music Society Magazine was established at the very start of the Society in 1957, with composer and pianist Billy Mayerl acting as the first editor.

During the 60s, a regular newsletter was produced for members of the Society, detailing meetings, updates, performances, premieres of Light Music and much more.

After the Society’s period of dormancy (1973-1996), the magazine was re-established and recently celebrated its 100th edition since 1997!

Light & Lyrical is a well-respected publication containing:

  • Expert-written articles about Light Music’s varied history
  • Interviews with composers and musicians
  • Articles written by performers and writers of Light Music
  • Excerpts from memoirs of famous composers & musicians
  • Reviews of members’ concerts, events and CD releases
  • Recommendations of Light Music titles for your concerts and more!
