Last February a new orchestra, the Pyramid Players, performed for the first time on stage at the Plaza, Stockport, delighting their audience with a programme of tuneful light music. The forty- piece orchestra returns to the Plaza on Sunday 29th September at 3.30pm to present a new programme of familiar music, including favourite radio & TV themes.
The band has been put together by John Wilson who led the campaign to save the Plaza for Stockport twenty-five years ago.
“We’re very pleased to be featuring the Plaza’s original theatre
organ in our next concert, with contributions from regular Plaza organist Michael Holmes”, said Wilson. “We share our ticket sale proceeds with Stockport Plaza Trust, the registered charity,
that maintains and runs the theatre. We also support the Light Music Society, another registered charity, by hiring our music from their Library of Light Orchestral Music situated in Bolton”.
This next concert by the full orchestra on the Plaza stage attended by the Mayor of Stockport will include the themes to The Archers, Animal Magic and Desert Island Discs, plus many other items. Join the Pyramid Players at the Plaza for a wonderful afternoon of musical nostalgia.
Sunday 29th September at 3.30pm. Tickets available on the Plaza website
