Howard Rogerson

I have a very wide and varied musical taste and performance experience across a lifetime of professional work as a clarinettist, but with one influence in particular from the early 1950s, is my liking for light music; radio programmes like Grand Hotel, Family Favourites, Housewives’ Choice, Your Hundred Best Tunes, Billy Cotton Band Shows, Eric Robinson’s Music for You and many more. Max Jaffa Scarborough Summer Seasons , my Torquay experience in 1971 in the Summer Season Light Orchestra, working with the Palm Court Theatre Orchestra from Bournemouth, my own Palm Court Concert Orchestra from Opera North, and ultimately, founding, directing and conducting my own Promenade Concert Orchestra in Morecambe, where a seasonal light orchestra has never existed!
