"As one of Ernest Tomlinson’s daughters I have been associated with the LMS in one way or another for nearly all my life. The doings of the society were part of the background of my childhood and the words “The Light Music Society” are some of my earliest memories. My father became chairman of the society in 1966 so his involvement was naturally an important part of what he did. From the start of ET’s music collection in the 1970s, all members of our family were involved in rescuing music, shelving music, cataloguing music and just about everything else. As his secretary over many years I typed many of his Chairman’s reports well before the re-launching of the society in 1996. I think I became secretary of the LMS in 1996 simply because I was ET’s secretary!"
