Catherine Tackley

Catherine has had a strong history of leadership in Higher Education (having been professor and Head of Music at The Open University and University of Liverpool) and worked in partnership with non-academic organisations (including brokering partnerships with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra). At the University of Liverpool she attracted multi-million pound investment in facilities for the Department of Music, as well as leading the project to build and open the new Tung Auditorium on campus. She is currently Trustee of the National Jazz Archive and the Royal Musical Association and a member of the DCMS College of Experts. She looks forward to contributing her experience and knowledge to the development of the LMS which relates very strongly to her research interests. Having primarily researched into jazz she is now working full time for the next two years on a project about dance bands/Light Music and is looking forward to exploring the LMS library holdings more fully.
