Maria Kouba was born 1922. She was the only soprano in the world, who had her debut as “Salome”, a role other sopranos would assess later in their careers. She sang this role more often, under more different conductors and in more different houses than any other soprano. After spending 10 years in Canada, she returned to her native Austria.
