American-born operatic soprano Gianna Rolandi sang Richard Strauss roles, especially Sophie in Rosenkavalier and Ariadne, also Mozart and Donizetti. Her Strauss and Mozart was in demand at Glyndebourne under Simon Rattle and Andrew Davis (she married the latter). Later they moved to America.
