Fou Ts’ong (1934 – 2020)

Fou Ts’ong was born in Shanghai but made his career as a pianist in the West, not least in England, playing Mozart piano concertos at the Royal Albert and Royal Festival Halls and the Grieg concerto in his one BBC Proms appearance. But he was particularly famed for his Chopin playing. At one time he formed a trio with Jacqueline du Pre and violinist Hugh Maguire. Fou’s more recent Wigmore Hall recitals encompassed Haydn, Beethoven, Schubert and of course Chopin.
