Gabriel Bacquier (1924 – 2020)

French-born Bacquier was an operatic baritone who sang many roles on both sides of the Atlantic. In Britain he sang Almavira in Mozart’s Figaro at Covent Garden and Glyndebourne. He also excelled in roles by Puccini, Bellini, Donizetti, Verdi, Saint-Saens and Prokofiev’s Love For Three Oranges. He also recorded songs by Ravel and Poulenc.
