Manchester Light Orchestra Concert a Great Success!

The inaugural performance from the newly established Manchester Light Orchestra took place last Saturday at Victoria Hall in Bolton. A sizeable audience attended the wide selection of music, which included the famous Light Cavalry Overture by Suppé (the 200th anniversary of his birth falls in April of this year), Ernest Tomlinson’s Concert Jig and Passepied, Robert Farnon’s Jumping Bean, Leroy Anderson’s Sandpaper Ballet and brought to a rousing conclusion with Eric Coates’ The Dam Busters March. Conductor Alexander Webb oversaw orchestral proceedings with great aplomb and the whole evening was greeted with great applause and cheering.
