The Light Music Society’s Annual General Meeting and Weekend Celebration will be held from Saturday August 24th to Monday August 26th 2019.

This is probably the last time a playing weekend will be held at the Library’s current premises, so do make sure you get to this one! The first of these events took place in 2001 conducted by Ernest Tomlinson, and he conducted several of these occasions until 2006. We have also had several play-days and concerts conducted by Gavin Sutherland.

This year, our conductor is Alexander Webb. Alex won the prestigious Tim Reynish Conducting Scholarship at the RNCM in 2017. He is currently working on his PhD about the light music genre, with particular focus on the music of Ernest Tomlinson. He has been enthusiastically exploring the library and is looking forward to playing some of this lovely repertoire with you in August.

Full details and a booking form will be in the Spring Magazine, but put the dates in your diary now!!!!
