LMS AGM PLAYDAY & MEETING

 VICTORIA HALL – KNOWSLEY STREET – BOLTON – BL1 2AS

As is customary at LMS AGM weekends, we are planning a day of music making followed by an informal orchestral concert to take place at our new home in Victoria Halls, Bolton. Conductor Howard Rogerson will be choosing a most enjoyable programme and the orchestra will be led by Matthew Chadbond. Spaces are now available to come and join us on the 1st of October.

The day will begin at 10.00 and finish at 6.00.

The Lunch Break will be from 12.30-1.00. There will be a speedy AGM at 1.00, after which playing will recommence.

The informal concert will run from 5.00 to 6.00.

Join us to explore some of the vast repertoire from the Library of Light Orchestral Music!

Standard requirement for players is grade 6  above as stipulated by our conductor Howard Rogerson.

Cost of attendance of the day is £20. Audience for the concert is welcome for a suggested donation of £10 to the Society.

This will be followed by a Light Music Society dinner, for which the venue has yet to be confirmed. All details will be available by email and on our website ASAP, please contact us for more info.

Notice is given that the 2023 AGM will be held at The Victoria Halls, 37 Knowsley Street, Bolton, BL1 2AS on October 1st, 2023 at 1.00 pm.

1. The main business to be transacted is the election and re-election of trustees, as follows.
The following current trustees have all indicated their willingness to stand for re-election, and will resign immediately prior to the resolution for election being moved:

Andrew Penny MBE has expressed his willingness to stand for election as a trustee. Andrew is a conductor, famed for his recording of the first full cycle of Malcolm Arnold’s symphonies. He studied under Sir Charles Groves and can also be heard conducting on the Marco Polo series of British Light Music recordings. From 1982-2022 he was Musical Director of the Hull Philharmonic Orchestra. In November 1999 he directed two performances of Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 8, (The Symphony of a Thousand) as part of the Millennium celebrations in Hull.

2. An Agenda for this AGM, an Annual Statement of Accounts and Trustees Annual report will be available on the Light Music Society’s website. Copies of the minutes from the last AGM are available to members on request.

The AGM is being held during the day of the Light Music Society Playday.
