27 October 2017
Event type: Course
Performers: Laurence Perkins
Antonin Reicha: Partita
Frank Bridge: Norse Legend
Two wonderful pieces for ten wind players - both very different in character. The Bohemian composer Reicha helped to establish the popularity of wind chamber music in the late 18th century with his wind quintets and this delightful Partita. In complete contrast, we have the wonderfully English music of Frank Bridge - his lyrical Norse Legend is a rare gem, gently evocative with a touch of mild drama. There will be an informal concert performance of both works on the last day.
Meals and accommodation are provided on this course (see details below), and there will be free time to explore this beautiful area on foot or in the car. Higham Hall is on the edge of the Lake District National Park, so there are endless possibilities for inspiring explorations!
If you are travelling to this course by train, you can be picked up ( by prior arrangement with Higham Hall) at 5pm from Penrith Station.
(Pickup from and return to Penrith Station is an additional £20)
Venue: Higham Hall
